Who we are
SnipDay is free salon-management software for salons in India — appointments, billing, customer records and WhatsApp reminders. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “SnipDay” mean the operator of the SnipDay service. You can reach us at hello@snipday.com for any privacy question or request.
Two kinds of people, two roles
Our service involves two groups, and our responsibilities differ for each:
- Salon owners and staff who create an account and use SnipDay to run their business. For their account data, we are the data fiduciary (controller).
- The salon’s own customers, whose details (name, phone number, visit and billing history) a salon records or which customers enter when booking online. This data belongs to the salon. We process it on the salon’s behalf— the salon decides how it is used. If you are a salon’s customer and want your data changed or removed, please contact the salon; we will help them act on your request.
What we collect
From salon owners and staff
- Account details: name, email address, and (optionally) phone number.
- Business profile: salon name, address, city, business type, services and prices.
- Login and security data: a hashed password and session tokens (we never store your password in readable form).
Recorded or uploaded by salons about their customers
- Customer name and phone number (the phone number is the main way a customer is identified).
- Appointments, services taken, bills, dues and notes the salon adds.
When someone books online
- The name and phone number entered on the booking page, and the services and time chosen.
- A one-time password (OTP) is sent to that phone over WhatsApp to confirm the booking. We store only a scrambled (hashed) form of the code, and only until it expires or is used.
How we use it
- To provide the service: run the calendar, billing, customer records and reminders.
- To send booking confirmations, reminders and OTPs — on the salon’s behalf.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent abuse (such as spam bookings) and enforce our terms.
- To support you when you contact us, and to fix and improve the product.
We do notsell personal data, and we do not use a salon’s customer lists for our own marketing.
WhatsApp messages
Reminders, confirmations and OTPs are sent through the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta. To deliver a message, the recipient’s phone number and the message content are shared with WhatsApp. Their handling of that data is governed by WhatsApp’s and Meta’s own terms and privacy policies. A salon must have a lawful basis and, where required, the customer’s consent before messaging them; salons are responsible for that consent.
Cookies and analytics
The app uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure your session. These are required for the app to work and cannot be turned off from within the app. If we add product analytics later, we will use privacy-respecting, aggregated measurement and update this policy first.
How we protect data
- Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Each salon’s data is isolated from every other salon’s at the database level.
- Backups are encrypted before they are stored, and kept off-site.
- Phone numbers and OTPs are never written to our logs in readable form.
- Access to production data is limited to what is needed to operate and support the service.
Sharing
We share personal data only with:
- Infrastructure and messaging providers who help us run the service (such as our hosting provider and the WhatsApp Business Platform), under contracts that limit their use of the data.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to.
- A buyer, if the business is ever sold — in which case we will let you know.
How long we keep it
We keep account and business data for as long as the salon uses SnipDay, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and accounting needs. OTP codes are deleted once they expire or are used. When a salon closes its account, its business data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, except where we must keep some records by law.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Salon owners can do most of this directly in the app, or email us. If you are a salon’s customer, contact the salon first; we will assist them. To reach us, email hello@snipday.com.
Data export and deletion
Salons can request an export of their data or ask us to delete their account and its data by emailing hello@snipday.com. We will verify the request and act on it within a reasonable time.
Children
SnipDay is intended for salon businesses and adults. It is not directed at children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves or the law changes. We will change the “last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will give notice in the app.
Governing law and contact
This policy is governed by the laws of India. For any question or request, email us at hello@snipday.com.
